On February 6th, Madison Rotary volunteers made 64 quarts of soup for JBWS, formerly known as Jersey Battered Women’s Services, to benefit the survivors of domestic violence. The event was held in partnership with Soup Sisters at Healthy Italia in Madison.  “Our mission is to help alleviate food insecurity in our community, to empower youth, and to partner with other local organizations to enrich the Madison community and beyond for all.  Click Read More for additional details.

The soup-making event was a perfect example of a 4-way community partnership, between three charities and a local business, to make a positive difference in our community.

Soup Sisters of Madison works with Healthy Italia, an innovative cooking school, to supply fresh nurturing and nourishing soups to area charities in need.

“Madison Rotary echoes Soup Sisters’ sentiment of ‘Ladle Out Love,’” says Jeannie Tsukamoto of Harding, Madison Rotarian who organized the service project. “Supporting health, empowering mothers and children and fighting food insecurity are all important Rotary initiative, and we are thrilled to do our part in serving our community by working with Soup Sisters and JBWS,” she adds.

Diane Williams, President and CEO of JBWS, spoke to Madison Rotarians during the event about how her organization gives safety, support and solutions for all domestic abuse victims and provides education to the public for the prevention of domestic violence. “Community support is crucial for the survivors on their road to recovery,” remarks Williams.
