"It is so exciting to know that we have reached "5,000" bags and we have been in partnership with you since 2020!” said Jackie Love from the food pantry at the First Baptist Church of Madison. Jackie was referring to the Madison High School Interact Club’s Madison Ends Hunger service project that started on July 28th of 2020 during the pandemic. Every other Saturday since then, students from the Club have coordinated the collection of bags of groceries donated by families throughout Madison. Over 150 families have participated in the project over the last four years. “The generosity of Madison families is amazing” said senior Rebecca Elsner who was a freshman when the service project started. The Interact Club is supported by Madison Rotary. “Rotary has helped keep the project going over the last four years as the Interact Club has lost students to graduation and freshmen have joined the Club", said Carole Rawding, high school physics teacher and Club advisor. “The Interact Club and Rotary are the main source of food for the pantry” said Jackie Love “without them we would not be able to keep serving the pantry’s clients”.
If you would like to help support the MadisonEndsHunger service project by donating a bag of non-perishable food every other Saturday please send an email to madisonendshunger@gmail.com.
